Numerical Study of an Electrostatic Precipitator for Flue Gas Particulate Removal
Overview
Flue gas from combustion carries fine particles that need to be removed before release. An electrostatic precipitator (ESP) does this by charging the particles and collecting them on plates with an electric field. This thesis studies and optimizes an ESP numerically, aiming for efficient removal of particulate matter from flue gas.
What I'm doing
- Modelling the ESP and its electrostatic particle collection in COMSOL Multiphysics.
- Studying how the design and operating conditions affect collection performance.
- Optimizing the configuration for efficient particulate removal.
